this weekend.

This weekend we went to London for only 2 days. It was a very short time and we were so tired but it was full with friends, lots of food, coffee and favorite places. The weather was surprisingly good so sitting outside in cafes and having coffee & drinks with friends was even more appealing. We already miss it.

Bu haftasonu 2 guncuk Londra kacamagi yaptik. Tatil cok kisa olmasina ragmen bol bol yemek, arkadas ve favori mekan sigdirdik. Hava sasilacak derecede guzeldi ve arkadaslarimizla acik havada oturup birseyler icmenin keyfi dolayisiyla baskaydi. Simdiden ozluyoruz.

I think I won’t even explain my obvious absence this time. 18 days before the big day. So, mine is more like an apology rather than a lame excuse. Anyways, most of the big things are kind of sorted out by now, like the decoration of the venue, guest list, invitations, music and etc. Ok I admit it, the girly influence in the wedding will be evident however I tried my best to make it something that Ahmet will also enjoy. Without pinky pinks and pompous objects, my venue will be cosy, fancy and chic WITHOUT looking palace-like. Serious business. So lets get back to the post, which I think will be the most irrelevant and worst qualified ever. // 😦 best I can do today. I am hoping to take more & better pictures soon. Bu sefer uzun yoklugumun sebebini aciklayamayacagim bile. Dugunden once son 18 gun. Yani benimki kotu bir bahaneden cok gecerli ve yeterli bir mazeret sayilabilir. Neyse ki dekorasyon, davetli listesi, muzik gibi bir suru buyuk detay halloldu gibi. Kabul ediyorum, dugunde kizsal dokunuslar bariz olacak ama Ahmet’in de keyif alabilecegi bir hale getirmek icin elimden geleni yaptim. Pembeleri, suslu satafatli objeleri bir kenara atip, sik, samimi ve modern bir dekorasyon yapmaya calisiyoruz. Tabii ki bu sirada salonun bir saray havasina burunmemesi ve bogucu olmamasi icin gosterdigimiz caba buyuk. Ciddi isler yani anlayacaginiz 🙂 Bu yuzden, su gune kadar yaptigim en alakasiz ve cabuk post’a gecelim. // 😦 bugunlerde yapabilecegimin en iyisiydi. Yakin zamanda daha kaliteli ve daha cok resim cekebilmeyi umuyorum. Son zamanlarda giydiklerimden bazilari…

Our best friends in London Emma and John are going back to Greece for a month tomorrow. And when they come back to London we will have only 4-5 days before we pack everything and go back to Turkey permanently. Although we are visiting them in Mykonos in the beginning of August ( !!! :)) we consider this day as our last one in London. We will be in Ahmet’s place which has been “the home” for all of us for the whole year. We will cook crepes & waffles, play cards, drink and chat for hours as we always did. We had a lovely group here and it’s now so sad to know that we’re leaving here very soon. Anyway, I have a lot of things to do in Turkey: there is a wedding to plan (!) and I have done nothing about it yet – even the thought of it can easily freak me out right now 🙂

Londra’daki en yakin arkadaslarimiz Emma ve John yarin 1 ayligina Yunanistan’a gidiyorlar. Agustos basinda Mikanos’ta Emma’nin yazligina hep beraber kalmaya gidiyoruz (!!! 🙂 ) ama yine de Londra’da bu grupla beraber son gecemiz sayilir. Bu yuzden bu aksami ozel bir kutlamayla gecirelim istedik. Butun sene boyunca hepimize ev sahipligi yapmis olan Ahmet’in evinde waffle ve krep yapip, yiyip icip kart oynayip konusarak butun geceyi gecirecegiz, -butun sene yapmis oldugumuz gibi:) Londra’dan ve buradaki hayatimizdan yakinda tamamen kopacagimizi bilmek huzun verici ama evimi, ailemi ve Istanbul’daki arkadaslarimi cook ozledim. Ayrica yapmam gereken cook is var – koskoca bir dugun planlamam lazim ve daha pek ucundan tutmus degilim. Bunu dusunmek bile beni suan korkutuyor ve biran once herseyi hazirlamaya baslamak istiyorum.

Hello Good Weather!

I’ve been missing my home country a lot in the last few weeks because of the bad weather here (and maybe because of the jealousy that my friends and family are enjoying the sun and sea in Turkey). Last couple of days the weather has been so bad in London and everytime we went out to walk or do shopping, we ended up being all wet and dirty. However today the weather here is amazing, so we enjoyed the beautiful Regent’s park and took a few pictures!

Son zamanlarda Turkiye’yi cok ozluyorum, ozellikle de Londra’daki yagmurlu ve gri hava yuzunden (biraz da arkadaslarim ve ailemin guzel havanin ve denizin tadini cikardigini bildigimden). Son gunlerde burada ne zaman dolasmaya ciksak sirilsiklam ve camurlu eve donuyoruz. Ama bugun uzun zamandir ilk defa hava cok guzeldi (yine Turkiye’deki havayla kiyaslanmaz ama en azindan gunes acti). Biz de bu guzel havanin tadini Regent’s Park’ta cikardik ve Burcu birsuru guzel resim cekti!

What I Wore: A Classic Look

Today, we went to one of my favorite Italian restaurants, Il Baretto on Blandford Street. The food is really good there and we also like the atmosphere very much. Anyway, sometimes I don’t like wearing different things like skirts, patterns, dresses and etc. Those days I always go with the “classic look”. I wear jeans, a blouse, sometimes a blazer and ballerinas. I usually combine those looks with different pieces to make them look a little bit “less classic” let’s say 🙂 So today, I combined my classic look with a blue clutch and my favorite cardigan with fringes.

Bugun, en sevdigim Italyan restoranlarindan birine gittik – Il Baretto. Eger birgun Londra’ya yolunuz duserse mutlaka rezervasyonunuzu yaptirip burada yemek yiyin, atmosferi de yemekleri de cok guzel! Neyse, kiyafetime gelince, degisik kombinasyonlar yapmaya halimin olmadigi gunler genelde hep en klasik kiyafeti giyerim. Bu kiyafet cogu zamanla kot, ipek bir bluz ya da gomlek, uzerine bazen ceket bazen hirka ve genellikle babet olur. Bugun de o gunlerden biriydi, dolaptaki renkleri gormek bile gozumu yordu:) Ve sonuc oldukca klasik 🙂

Umarim herkes cok guzel bir cumartesi gecirmistir.

What I Wore Today: Ripped Jeans

Today after meeting my supervisor for my dissertation I went window shopping in Oxford Street and then had dinner with Ahmet and his sister Isik at Busaba Eathai. Busaba is always delicious and it is perfect for a quick dinner! Is there anyone out there who lives in London and hasn’t been to Busaba? Nopeee 🙂

Bugun tezim icin danismanimla gorustukten sonra Oxford Street’te vitrinlere bakindim (kabul – biraz da icerilerine :)). Aksam yemegi icin de Ahmet ve Isik’la Thai restorani Busaba Eathai‘ye gittik. Busaba’nin yemekleri bence her zaman cok lezzetli, cabuk bi aksam yemegi yemek icin de ideal – rezervasyonsuz, bol sira beklemeli! 🙂 Londra’da yasayip da Busaba’da bir kez bile yemek yememis olan var midir? Yoktur tabi ki 🙂
